My name is Yollanda Musa and I am a social media influencer and model . My modelling career started shortly after completing my Economics degree at the University of Hertfordshire.
While studying I was seeking out agency support and attended a few test shoots. However it was difficult balancing studies with travelling up to London for shoots so I focused on completing my degree.
The urge to model however still burned within me so the journey continued after I graduated . I started to see the unlimited potential there was for a 5 foot 2 model in a world of generic statuesque girls. So I started exploring modelling opportunities with no height restrictions. I came across an advert for a modelling reality series with a similar concept to Americas Next Top Model. I applied for it and got selected for the show.
The reality show was my first opportunity to voice my journey as a petite model. I was the shortest model in the house but managed to reach the final stage. This experience changed my life . At the beginning of 2016, I started working with my natural affinity for social media, particularly as an Instagram influencer. Since then my reach on this platform has risen exponentially!
I have formed a network of makeup artists , music artists, photographers, fashion designers and graphic designers on social media . This has led to appearances in a brand commercial, music videos, model / dancer at Notting Hill Carnival floats , publishes in UK and USA magazines and fashion shows. All through connections I built through social media . I have also participated in beauty pageants and won titles for Sports Award at Miss Hertfordshire 2017, Miss Creative at Miss Ebony Ambassador UK 2018 and Southern Region Princess at Miss Pride of Africa UK 2015.
I was honoured to receive a Woman of Purpose Award in 2017 and to also receive a nomination for Social Media Influencer of the Year at the Black Awards 2018. Social media has been a catalyst to my growth as a model. My social media presence has led me to securing long standing brand ambassador roles with various brands.
I have coached and mentored aspiring models to follow their dreams and many have gone on to take part in their first fashion show or apply for their first pageant . I am so proud to see the growth in so many models I have advised. My goal is to set up a platform to connect individuals in the fashion industry and equip them with the busineds skills they need to develop their career.
